Places to Get Groceries in Galion

Shopping for groceries in a small town like Galion can be a challenge because there aren't many options. There are two main grocery stores and a few other stores that offer some food items. (If I miss any, please leave a note so I can revisit this and update the post.)

The Two Main Grocery Stores in Galion

Geyer's and Save a Lot are is the main grocery stores in Galion. Each has It has advantages and drawbacks, but it's a handy places to get food without having to leave town. 

Geyer's carries more name brand items and the prices tend to be accordingly higher. Geyer's has a very nice bakery and the meat section has a reputation for high quality.

The prices at Save a Lot tend to be lower, but you're picking up (for the most part) store brand groceries. Store brands aren't necessarily bad, though. Some of the Save a Lot branded items are exceptional, the produce section there is very nice, and the service is friendly and efficient.

Other Places to Get Groceries in Galion

It's handy to have some extra places to stop when you need to grab a few things, and these other Galion grocery venues offer the convenience of some basic groceries. 

• The Dollar General Stores offer some grocery items. These groceries include some dry goods and some dairy case and frozen items. 
• Dollar Tree also has a grocery section and coolers in the back with some frozen foods and some dairy case items.
• The Gas Stations (most of them) offer a few items you can put together to make a meal, or you can grab missing items, like a gallon of milk or some butter to finish a meal you're making or if you just run out of some things. 
• The Carry Outs are handy if you just need to grab a gallon of milk or some chips. I wouldn't really count them as a place to get groceries, but in a pinch, they're worth checking with. (And Phil's Deli, which is alongside a carryout, has some high-quality food items.)
• The Farmer's Market (in summer months) is a great place to stop for fresh produce and honey. 
• Drug Mart has a nice grocery section in the back, an exceptional deli counter, and some fresh meat that always seems to be really high quality.

Galion Burger King Garden Side Salad Review

After my last experience at Galion Burger King, I was REALLY hesitant to go back and spend more money there, but I also really didn't want to leave a bad review of Galion Burger King as the only BK post here on Galionite. So, I went in tonight for an on-the-go dinner, but I ordered lighter because I seriously didn't want to shell out the bucks for another burger after the last one was so bad.

Tonight, I ordered a 10-piece order of chicken nuggets and a garden side salad. Sorry I forgot to snap a pic of the nuggets, but the salad is shown above.

The chicken nuggets were hot and seemed to be on point. The flavor was right, the texture was good. All-in-all, they were really good chicken nuggets.

The salad got off to a good start by looking fresh and colorful. Appearance-wise, it was a really pretty salad. (As you can see in the photo.)

And, I'm happy to add that the salad was as FRESH as it looked! (The tomatoes were a little funky, but it's off season and it's hard to find good tomatoes anywhere this time of year.) Though, they managed to find fresh greens, and those are out of season, too.

The Service at Burger King in Galion

Like last time, the service was stellar. In fact, the same woman who did such a great job last time was working the window again tonight. I have to compliment the managers on keeping such a talented employee, and would like to note that she's more like an ambassador for their company than anything.

Summary of This Visit to Galion Burger King

To summarize this follow-up visit to Burger King in Galion with a  grade, I would give it about a B+. It would have earned an A if the tomatoes in the salad had been fresher.

Plus, I will be going back at some point to get another Whopper sandwich, and plan to take a meat thermometer so I can snap a photo of the exact inner temperature of the meat patty in the Whopper before leaving the Galion Burger King premises. (So it's exactly what they're handing out and doesn't have any time to cool off.)

Okay, Which One of Y'all Made Mother Nature So Mad?

So, here it is April 5, 2018, and it's colder than... well... it's COLD!!!

I'm looking at the 10-day forecast in my phone's weather app... more snow due Saturday...

It's supposed to be April showers - not April snowstorms!

I'm just wondering, would the person or people who made Mother Nature so stinking angry please, please, please apologize so we can have some proper Spring weather?

Sorry for the mini-rant, and I hope my chilly humor wasn't offensive to anyone.

Keep warm, everyone, and just know, in a couple months we'll be griping because it's TOO HOT!
