General Tso's Chicken at Galion's China Garden
I might normally steer clear of General Tso's Chicken because it is a dish with a reputation for being fiery in the spice department. But, I love the General Tso's chicken at China Garden. It has been perfect every time I've ever ordered it.The sauce on China Garden's chicken had just the right touch of spiciness. The spiciness was beautifully offset with the sweetness of the sauce and the texture of the chicken.
Even coated in sauce, the chicken bits retained their crunchiness throughout the meal. And, even the leftovers later in the evening were still crispy in spite of soaking in the sauce for about three hours. I have to say, the two little broccoli florets didn't add anything other than color, but eye appeal is an important part of the dining experience - so kudos to the chef on that addition.
China Garden's Fried Rice
The fried rice was also excellent. The peas, carrots and onions retained a crispy texture that nicely complemented the softness of the rice. There were bits of meat in it, I honestly couldn't tell if that was chicken or pork, and forgot to check the menu to see if it said.
Egg Roll and Crab Rangoon at China Garden
The Egg Roll was very good. The flavor was spot on. The texture of the shell was a touch soft, but it was nicely browned and thoroughly cooked.
The Crab Rangoon... I'm trying to find a word that's good enough to describe this little taste of heaven. I've tried Crab Rangoon a lot of places. It's just something I like.... and... the Crab Rangoon at China Garden is absolutely exquisite!
The fortune cookie was stale... that's the only bad thing I have to say about this visit - and it wasn't the fault of the restaurant because it was wrapped in its little air tight pouch. But, who had room left to eat a fortune cookie anyway? I sure didn't.
If I were giving out star ratings, this trip to China Garden at 204 Portland Way North in Galion, Ohio (right there by the Mexican restaurant in Galion) would get all the stars. It was a great meal and the service was stellar.
